You are cordially invited to the National Rangeland Forum: “CARING FOR OUR HOMELAND AND RANGELANDS”

The goal of the forum is to contribute to the creation of favorable condition for all stakeholders, including rangeland sector specialists, herders and pastoralists, in the development and strengthening of cooperation and mutually effective ties for rangeland protection. Protecting rangeland is a key component of social and economic development, and of Mongolia’s livestock industry. This means preventing degradation, ensuring the proper use of rangeland, and increasing the responsibilities of all stakeholders.

 

The forum will be held in Red Rock resort at Gorkhi-Terelj National Park from 27-28 September 2017.

During the forum, presentations and discussions will be held on the following topics:

  • Strengthening the involvement and cooperation of herders in ensuring the proper use of rangeland and other natural resources.
  • The use of Ecological Site Group concepts and state and transition models for Mongolia’s rangelands as a platform for resilience-based rangeland management and the strengthening of multi-stakeholder collaboration.
  • Rangeland health monitoring and assessment; its theoretical and methodological rationale; practical applications and results.
  • Opportunities to improve the legal environment for responsible rangeland management.
  • Ensuring the sustainability of ecology and ecosystem services for Mongolia’s rangelands.
  • The roles and participation of livestock producers and consumers in the sustainable management of rangeland and natural resources.
